Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 and professionally referred to as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female signing for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The first album she released with the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she started to gain notoriety. Her first album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012, with the release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox continued uploading her songs online, including her independent single Bound. In 2015, she was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album, which came out on the 21st July. released on the 21st of July. J. Cole was interested by her talent and was looking to collaborate in conjunction with Rihanna. The 8th of December was the day she confirmed that she had been officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track she sang together with Cozz on the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. On October 21 2016 she released her debut EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She was accompanied by EarthGang. in 2018, the singer-songwriter guested on two tracks by EarthGang On Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first song Whipped Cream off of Shea Butter Baby on July 16. A music clip was then followed by a short video in September. She released her second single called Grampa on the 9th of November. In November, 13 she dropped two more singles entitled No One and Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded alongside Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. It was then released as a single on its own in February 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. The 20th of February, 2019, a music clip was released to promote the song. It has already received more than three million hits on YouTube in its initial week. In support of the track, she toured together with 6LACK during December 2018 on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
